Bob Saget was no stranger to hosting charity events. Every year, the comedian would gather all of his comedy friends and host a benefit for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, a cause that was close to His heart ever since the death of his sister in the 90’s. And this past Sunday, another event for the Foundation was held at the Comedy Store. This time, it was a memorial for Bob Saget.
The event was about as star-studded as you could imagine, with friends and family taking the stage. Those who took to the stage include John Stamos, Jeff Ross, Chris Rock, John Mayer, Jackson Browne, Jon Lovitz, Seth Green, Michael Keaton, Byron Allen, Jodie Swetin, Paul Rodriguez, and Mike Binder, who also produced the event. The big surprise guest of the night was Jim Carrey, who hadn’t stepped foot on the stage since he gave up stand-up in the 90’s. Each performed a small set and shared stories about Bob. The show even ended with a sing-a-long of one of his original songs, My Dog Licked My Balls.
It also featured The Comedy Store debut of Kelly Rizzo, his widow who shared some memories of her husband. And even a few jokes. “So remember when I said you’ll never see me do standup??,” she wrote on Instagram. “Well I guess I got a couple jokes in but paying tribute to my legendary and incredible husband on stage at @thecomedystore where his career began over 40 years ago was the honor of my life. I know he would’ve gotten a huge kick out of me being up on stage there backed up by Jim Carrey, @chrisrock @therealjeffreyross @johnmayer and @johnstamos – I know it made him smile big.”
It’s nice to see that even though he’s gone, he’s still able to raise money for something he believed in.
