The Farrelly Brothers are back!
The directors behind some of the biggest comedies in the past 25 years, including Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and There’s Something About Mary, are reuniting to direct a new series for Quibi called The Now starring Dave Franco.
Written by Peter Farrelly, Steve Leff (The Ranch), and Pete Jones (Hall Pass), The Now is described in the press release as “a comedy that examines what makes life worth living. For Ed Poole (Franco), clarity comes when a secret from his past has seemingly destroyed his future. He soon realizes the only thing that will make his life worth living is to forget the past, screw the future and just live in The Now.” The series is set to by produced by Anonymous Content.
It really is good to see the Farrelly Brothers working together again, the first time since directing an episode of Trailer Park Boys in 2016. Peter Farrelly wound up winning an Oscar last year for Green Book. When asked why his brother Bobby wasn’t working on it with him, he told The Hollywood Reporter round table “Honestly the truth is my brother had a tragedy in his immediate family, a big one, and he had to step away. He needed time.” He also went on to say “Believe me, this movie [Green Book] would’ve been better if my brother were involved.”
Additional details about the series weren’t released, but we imagine it will be apart of Quibi’s spring 2020 launch.
