The Naked Cowboy Set To Have Monthly Stand-Up Show In NYC

May 20, 2010      Ilya      News, Tour Dates

In news that would make any working comedian from the past twenty years weep, The Naked Cowboy is set to get his own monthly show at Carolines Comedy Club on Broadway. “The World’s Most Celebrated Entertainer. An American Legend. A New York City icon,” as he describes himself, is going to be doing a monthly stand up showcase with a rotating  batch of comedians.

Robert Burk (his real name) put out a press release saying

“I’m really excited about hosting this new show at Carolines. It’s not going to be your average comedy show. I’m all about interacting with the people, so I’m planning on having the audience be part of the show. There will plenty of laughs, but we’ll also have some great music and a lot of surprises, too. You won’t want to miss it.”

So let me get this straight, a guy who calls himself the “Naked Cowboy” (and is neither naked or a cowboy) is going to headline a stand up show every month at a top level comedy club (having never done any stand-up comedy), but saying he will sing songs and interact with the audience (which he does for free everyday)?

Where do I sign up?

On the upside at least struggling comedians know now that all you have to do in order to headline a major comedy club is prance around in your underwear on the street for 11 years (not you Ralphie May).

The first Naked Cowboy Revue will be on June 2nd and will feature actual comedians: Dustin Chafin, Esther Ku, Julian McCullough and James Smith.
