The Slayer of comedy… covers Kenny Rogers?

April 7, 2010      Brian      Albums, Brian Posehn, Music

In addition to various comedy bits recorded all over the country, the self-proclaimed “Slayer of Comedy” Brian Posehn also recorded two musical tracks for his forthcoming stand-up record, Fart and Wiener Jokes.  One of the tracks?  A cover of the Kenny Rogers classic “The Gambler.”  Imagine cookie monster singing “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em” over a bed of guitar-virtuoso shredding and you’re halfway there.  While this may sound like a horrible idea at first, Posehn enlisted a veritable cornucopia of metal Gods for the recording – Scott Ian (Anthrax), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow ), Mark Morton (Lamb of God), John Tempesta (Exodus, The Cult), Russ Parrish (Steel Panther), and more – you realize it’s the best way to end the album.

Uber-metal label Relapse Records will release Fart and Wiener Jokes on April 27th, Posehn’s follow-up to Live In: Nerd Rage.
