“The Tonight Show” taps Jon Lovitz to play George Santos

January 23, 2023      Andrew Buss      Jon Lovitz, News, Television, The Tonight Show

As George Santos has been dominating the news, it makes sense that all of the late night hosts want to cash in on the story. We’ve seen multiple portrayals of Santos on different shows. But The Tonight Show made perhaps the most interesting choice: Jon Lovitz.

Despite the age difference, Lovitz is sort of a meta-casting choice. Lovitz, of course, is known for playing the pathological liar Tommy Flanagan on Saturday Night Live. So having Lovitz play a politician who is caught in controversy for lying seems pretty inspired. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

The appearance of course featured tons of obvious lies, and closed with his own rendition of Frank Sinatra’s My Way.
