Shortly Conan O’Brien will pack up his late night show and move it to the West Coast in preparation for taking over The Tonight Show hosting duties from Jay Leno.
To celebrate his last days in New York, O’Brien has secured one of his favorite bands, The White Stripes to be the final musical act to close down the NYC edition of his show.
On February 20th, Jack and Meg will take the stage for the first time as The White Stripes since the fall of 2007 when they cancelled a string of tour dates stemming from Meg’s acute anxiety and stage fright. The drummer hasn’t appeared on stage since, save for one appearance during a Raconteurs encore in 2008.
The Stripes have storied relationship with the gingered television host including serving a week-long stint as the house band for the show in 2003. Then, later the band had pulled Conan into their world by using his show as the backdrop for their video “The Denial Twist.”
