This Week in Comedy: Bill Burr and Nikki Glaser have new specials coming out
July 11, 2022 Andrew Buss News, This Week In Comedy
This week in comedy: There’s two new stand-up specials coming out on Netflix and HBO, respectively. First up, Netflix is releasing their fifth special with Bill Burr. In the special Bill Burr Live at Red Rocks, Burr “shares an “inspirational” talk for women, how doing mushrooms has changed him, finding common ground with lesbians and how his 4-year-old is helping his anger management.”
Also this week, Niki Glaser is coming out with her first HBO special. In Good Clean Filth, Glaser “dishes about sex, dating do’s and dont’s, and private parts in her first HBO comedy special. It’s sex ed like you’ve never seen it before.” She’s also serving as the host of FBoy Island, which returns to HBO Max this week as well. And be sure to be on the lookout for our upcoming interview with Glaser.
Also, What We Do in the Shadows returns for a long-awaited fourth season. The FX series – based off the film that shares its name – is assuring fans that season four will have “more strange beasts, surprising guest stars and tap dancing than ever.” The show – which has built up a rabid and loyal fan base, and deservedly so – returns on Tuesday.
Plus, Phoebe Robinson has a new Freeform series coming out, Everything’s Trash. The new comedy series “follows Phoebe, a 30-something outspoken podcast star making her professional mark while living a broke and delightfully messy life in Brooklyn. When her “perfect” older brother launches a political campaign, she’s forced to start her adulting journ-journ.”
Also, the South Park gang is coming back for their fourth out of fourteen new specials for Paramount+. This special is a part two follow-up to Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s previous outing, The Streaming Wars. Though we don’t have any news about the next season yet, these specials should definitely hold fans over until then.
And finally, Nathan Fielder is making his triumphant return to TV with The Rehearsal. The new HBO series “explores the lengths one man will go to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life. With a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by “rehearsing” them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design.”
