This Week in Comedy: Brian Regan is “On The Rocks”

February 22, 2021      Andrew Buss      Television, This Week In Comedy

This Week In Comedy: It’s been a few years, but Brian Regan’s second Netflix special is here! His latest special, On The Rocks, was filmed outdoors back in October. And it definitely looks and feels the most like a pre-COVID special than any others we’ve seen yet. And in his latest hour, he “confronts his befuddlement with animals, people, dinner parties, Reiki healers, and his recent realization that he has O.C.D.”

Also this week, the Baroness von Sketch Show is briefly coming back. After concluding their fifth and final season a few months ago, they are now releasing five additional bonus episodes with never-before-seen new content. We figure that it is made up of all the sketches that didn’t quite make the cut over the years. That premieres Wednesday night on IFC.

Plus, Punky Brewster is coming back to TV. The new revival of the 80’s classic, also titled Punky Brewster, premieres Thursday on Peacock. And according to the official release, “In this continuation of the iconic 80s sitcom about a bright young girl raised by a foster dad. Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self.”

And finally, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are returning to once again host this year’s Golden Globes. The pair, who have hosted in 2013, 2014, and 2015, will be hosting from two opposite sides of the country however. Fey will be holding court at the Rainbow Room in New York, while Poehler will be broadcasting from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The Golden Globes take place this Sunday night at 8 PM ET.
