This Week in Comedy: Celebrate Thanksgiving with the final season of “F is for Family”

November 22, 2021      Andrew Buss      News, Television, This Week In Comedy

This week in comedy: Nothing says Thanksgiving like time with your family. However, if you need a break from you’re loved ones this week, Netflix has you covered with the fifth and final season of F is For Family. This season of the animated hit comedy follows the aftermath of Frank’s father passing away and how it effects the Murphy family.

Also this week, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are coming out with their first of fourteen “movies” – but really specials – that will debut on Paramount+ in the next few years. This first South Park special, Post COVID, takes a look into what toll the pandemic took on the gang, far into the future.

Plus, Hulu’s Solar Opposites is getting its own holiday special. The series – which premiered last year to critical acclaim – was created by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. The teaser trailer finds Roiland’s Korvo asking the eternal question: “What the f*ck is Christmas?”

Also, Netflix is getting back into the world of roasting, which it first dipped its toe into with 2019’s Historical Roast. This time, boy band The Jonas Brothers are the subjects of the comedy roast, which is hosted by Kenan Thompson. Roasters include Pete Davidson, Niall Horan, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Lilly Singh, Jack Whitehall, and more.

Then, Showtime has another installment of their female stand-up series Funny Women of a Certain Age. This time around, titled Even More Funny Women of a Certain Age, it will feature Carole Montgomery, Wendy Liebman, Leighann Lord, Monique Marvez and Marsha Warfield.

And finally, HBO’s comedic docu-series How to with John Wilson managed to become a standout in a pretty rough year last year. So it’s
safe to say that season two – which will cover New York after the pandemic, protests, election, and everything else – has been highly awaited by fans and critics alike. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for season two!
