This week in comedy: Just as he had post-election in 2016, Dave Chappelle is coming back to host Saturday Night Live for the second time. Despite a musical guest that has yet to be announced, seeing as how infamous his 2016 monologue became with over 20 million YouTube views, this definitely will be a show that you won’t want to miss. And even though this is a record-breaking sixth show in a row for SNL, if there is a delay in the election results, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a seventh or eighth. It should be a good one!
Also this week, Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah are there for you with a slightly-more comedic point of view on election night. Stephen Colbert will be hosting Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand: Building Back America Great Again Better 2020, which airs on Showtime. Noah, for his part, will be hosting Votegasm 2020: What Could Go Wrong? (Again) on Comedy Central, just as The Daily Show has been for all election night coverage since 2000.
Plus, Moonbase 8 will be launching on Showtime. Featuring an all-star comedy team up that includes John C. Reilly, Fred Armisen, and Tim Heidecker, the series follows three NASA astronauts in training who are preparing for their first mission. And while this is the third space-based sitcom to come out in 2020, judging by both the trailers as well as everyone involved, it definitely feels like it will be the most promising.
And finally, Thomas Middleditch is joining forces with Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory) for a new CBS sitcom titled B Positive. The series will follow Middleditch as a newly-divorced dad who needs a kidney transplant. When he runs into someone from his past who offers her own (Annaleigh Ashford), an unlikely bond forms between them. B Positive hits CBS starting Thursday.
