May 16, 2022 Andrew Buss News, This Week In Comedy
This week in comedy: There’s a lot of stuff going on! First up, we’ve got the long-awaited George Carlin documentary on HBO. The film, George Carlin’s American Dream, follows the incredible life and career of the comedy legend. It was directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio. The Laugh Button was lucky enough to be at the film’s premiere, and can guarantee that any Carlin fan won’t be disappointed!
Also this week, Katt Williams is coming out with a new Netflix special. In the special, titled World War III, Williams “returns to deliver the unfiltered truth and hilariously breaks down conspiracy theories.” Also note that the special was filmed back in January, so before people started calling the current Ukraine/Russia situation World War III.
Plus, David Letterman is coming back for a fourth season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. This time around, he’s sitting down with Cardi B, Kevin Durant, Billie Eilish, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ryan Reynolds, and yes, Will Smith. However I’m regards to the latter, this was filmed before the Oscars incident.
Also, the National Comedy Center and Netflix is a Joke Festival are partnering up for The Hall, which will be honoring stand-up greats. Some of the legends they pay tribute to includes Robin Williams, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, and George Carlin.
And finally, John Mulaney and Andy Samberg are teaming up for a new project. The two star in a revival film of Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers for Disney+. If you ever wanted to see what it’d look like if the 90’s classic got the Who Framed Roger Rabbit treatment, then this is for you!
