This week in comedy, everyone’s favorite firehouse workplace comedy is coming back. Broken Lizards’ Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme bring the popular Tacoma FD back for a third season, kicking things off with a hilarious quarantine episode that isn’t what you think. The pranks and overall killing time vibes are back in full force this time around. And be sure to be on the lookout for our interview with Heffernan and Lemme later this week.
Also this week in comedy, the “fun aunt” is coming to Netflix. Chicago Party Aunt is a new animated series based off of a popular Twitter account that follows what happens when the “fun aunt” has to look after her nephew before he heads off to college. The show features an array of talented voice actors that includes Lauren Ash, Chris Witaske, Jon Barinholtz, Katie Rich, RuPaul, Rory O’Malley, Ike Barinholtz, Jill Talley, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
Plus, Justin Long is moving behind the camera – while also giving himself a co-starring role – for his new film, Lady of the Manor. The film, which he co-wrote and co-directed with his brother Christian, follows a slacker who is desperate for a job and finds herself working as a tour guide at a historical mansion. After discovering the tour guide she’s playing is also haunting the mansion, they team up together to right a centuries-old wrong. The film hits theaters and VOD this Friday. We interviewed Justin Long for the film, which will also be hitting the site later this week.
Also, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is back with a live studio audience for the first time since COVID hit in March of 2020. And alongside the show coming back, they’re also debuting an all-new set and look. We don’t have too much information on what all that will entail, but we’ll definitely find out tonight on Comedy Central. Great to have it back with an audience again!
And finally, New York comedian Mark DeMayo has his debut album coming out on our label, TLB Records, titled Bangers. DeMayo is a former NYPD officer who served on the force for 20 years, all while taking the stage as a stand-up at night after work. And after retiring from the NYPD in 2012, DeMayo started doing comedy full time. He can also currently be found currently touring the country with his solo show, 20 & Out.
