This Week In Comedy: Tuca & Bertie are back for a second season. After the animated series was cancelled by Netflix after just one critically acclaimed season back in 2019, the show is moving to Adult Swim this time around. Tuca & Bertie, which stars Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, explores “the friendship between two 30-year-old bird-women who live in the same apartment building, Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.”
Also this week, comedian and writer for The Daily Show Josh Johnson has a hybrid comedy/music album coming out. According to the press release, the album, titled Elusive, “weaves the Chicago comedian’s shrewd and self-deprecating observations on the absurdities of modern dating and American decay with nine music tracks (most of which he co-wrote) that roam the same thematic terrain.”
Plus, comedian Rose Matafeo stars in a new HBO Max film, Starstruck. The film follows “Jessie (Matafeo), a millennial living in East London juggling two dead-end jobs and navigating the complications of becoming romantically involved with famous film star Tom (Nikesh Patel), and follows the couple as they realize they can’t keep away from each other.” Check it out on the streaming platform starting Thursday.
