Lately it’s been looking like we have a stand-up led TV revolution on our hands. With comedians like John Mulaney, Jim Gaffigan, and more getting starring roles in sitcoms loosely-based on themselves. Now, Tommy Johnagin’s hat has been thrown into the ring.
According to Deadline, CBS has given a production commitment for Johnagin’s comedy pilot Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth. The show will star Johnagin as a stand-up comic raising a family in a small Midwestern town. Johnagin himself started his career in the midwest before relocating to Los Angeles. He and his wife recently had their first child.
Johnagin wrote the series alongside producer Bill Lawrence (Surviving Jack, Ground Floor) and Justin Halpern (Surviving Jack, Sh*t My Dad Says). This is actually the second semi-autobiographical pilot from Johnagin. The comedian had a project in the works with NBC in 2012, and developed a project with USA last year.
