And another rookie show get’s renewed. Not only did Playing House get a season two today but so did the new sketch series Friends of the People. According to Variety, TruTV has picked up the rookie series for it’s second season alongside other original programs The Carbonaro Effect and Fake Off.
Comedians the Lucas Brothers, Kevin Barnett, Jennifer Bartels, Jermaine Fowler, Lil Rel Howery, and Josh Rabinowitz star in the sketch series which debuted this year with ten episodes marking the network’s first sketch show. TruTV has stated they are gearing more towards creating original programming, opting to go for the more scripted series rather than their previous reality heavy line-up. In addition, this week the network also ordered their first scripted comedy pilot with the high-school comedy Those Who Can’t created by The Grawlix comedy group, originally produced for Amazon.
