Vote for this comedy panel at SXSW because it will be awesome

August 12, 2010      Matt      Festivals, News, SXSW

Last week, in our interview with Alf LaMont of The Comedy Store he mentioned that he was trying to put together a kick-ass comedy panel at the 2011 South By Southwest (SXSW) conference/festival.

For those that don’t know, SXSW is a yearly festival held in Austin, TX that brings together the creative minds in interactive, film, and music; showcasing and conferencing the best in each field.

Every year people pitch ideas for panels they feel are relevant, and LaMont is putting together an awesome panel about social media and how today’s comedians are best utilizing it to help their careers. Fellow comedy writer/blogger Sean McCarthy from The Comic’s Comic will moderate a panel full of comedians and industry professionals.

Now all you have to do is help SXSW organizers know this is a panel that needs to be made official. The panel is called “Social Media and Comedy: F**k Yeah!” From now until August 27th, you can go vote (after you log in/create an account) for what panels you want to see this year.

Panel Description:

In an industry where the only way to be seen was to get a spot on the Tonight Show or a time slot in one of the legendary clubs, the Internet has been a game-changer. This panel of Comedians, Venues, Networks, and Bloggers will study the state of Stand-Up Comedy, how social media can benefit aspiring and established comics and how the saturation of original comedic content online has affected mainstream media and the business of comedy.

What are you waiting for?! Social Media And Comedy: F**k Yeah! Go vote!
