The Bell House in Brooklyn held it’s first ever Vulture Festival earlier this month (May 10th-11th). The comedy night of festival featured the likes of Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer and Billy on the Street’s Billy Eichner and many more. Vulture and New York Magazine hosted this pop culture extravaganza pulling stars from television, music, film, and other respective outlets.
The show gave the comedians the theme “My First Time” and they were left to ponder different ways of interpreting and answering questions geared towards that theme. The stars of Broad City interviewed each other on their first encounter with weed, Mike Birbiglia recalled his first ever stand-up comedy set, as other comics like Jared Logan and W. Kamau Bell contributed hilarious mishaps.
The show offered the comedians the floor to make their own sketches based on the theme; there was no formal interviewee/interviewer relationship, rather leaving the content up to the comedians. In addition, the festival held panels, performances, and screenings running the comedy gamut. Most of it all pretty dang hilarious.
