Watch T.J. Miller parasail onto a barge full of dancing emojis at Cannes

 May 17, 2017      Sam      T.J. Miller, Video

If you’re feeling left out about missing this year’s Cannes Film Festival, maybe this video of T.J. Miller promoting The Emoji Movie will cheer you up.

To hype The Emoji Movie trailer to the influential masses attending Cannes, distributor Sony chose something more eye-catching than a simple screening: they strapped comic T.J. Miller onto a speedboat and had him parasail up and down the coast, in the middle of the day, while a disinterested Frenchman shouted at a horde of bouncing emojis on a boat nearby.

In the below clip, captured from the Emoji Movie PR livestream, you can watch Miller’s full trip down the beach and onto the barge, where he introduces a bunch of his huge, dancing co-stars before rolling the movie’s trailer. Be warned: Miller is fully mic’d the whole time, and there’s a lot of heavy breathing in there.

If you’re still not sure what The Emoji Movie is about, here’s Deadline’s synopsis:

The pic centers on the world of emojis inside your smartphone and especially on Gene, the “Meh” emoji who can’t help but have more emotions than the one he’s supposed to have. He eventually enlists the help of his best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Anna Faris) to embark on an adventure to find the code that will make Gene normal.

The Emoji Movie hits theaters July 28th.
