During last night’s Grammy Awards, Tiffany Haddish was busy hosting the revival of Kids Say The Darndest Things. Haddish was on set with two of the kids, talking about being nominated for her comedy special/album, Black Mitzvah. At that point a producer, who was in the control room and speaking to her via an ear piece, informs Haddish that she won Best Comedy Album. This made her the second black woman to win behind Whoopi Goldberg in 1986. Haddish broke down in tears, before offering the two kids seated on either side of her some very sound advice.
“It’s a lot of bumpy roads that you cross. And it’s a lot of times where you feel like ‘Well, am I doing the right thing? Is this good enough? Am I good enough? Am I strong enough to do this job?’ And then you just have to believe in yourself as much as you can. And against all odds you just say ‘You know what? Imma just put my best foot forward and I’m gonna give the world the best that I got. Anything is possible.”
