This week on TV: “The Standups” return and “Barry” is a hit

March 19, 2018      The Laugh Button Staff      News, This Week on TV

This Tuesday, Netflix returns returning for a new season of its half-hour comedy series, The Standups a series that is exactly as we just described it to you – comedians performing half-hour spots. The slight difference is that the comics for The Standups are headlining acts that already have at least one hour special or album under their belt. It provides super quality comedy at twice the speed. Season two features Kyle Kinane, Joe List, Gina Yashere, Brent Morin, Aparna Nancherla, and Rachel Feinstein.

On Sunday, we see the premiere of Bill Hader’s new dark comedy on HBO called Barry. Barry stars Hader as a low-rent hitman from the Midwest who is not feeling too great about his life. After begrudging travelling to Los Angeles for a job, he finds excitement in the LA theater scene. Barry is now interested in trying to make it in the bright lights of showbiz. The eight-episode series will star Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, D’Arcy Carden, Anthony Carrigan, and Henry Winkler. Barry debuts Sunday, at 10:30pm after the season 5 premiere of Silicon Valley.
