Gil Ozeri – Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Happy Endings writer, UCB performer, and BFF to Adam Pally – is arguably the best Snapchatter in the entire world.
He discovered the video-sharing app nearly a year ago, during a visit to SXSW, and he’s spent hundreds of hours (and hundreds of dollars in props) filming bizarre, artful clips since.
Ozeri’s Snapchat creations have been explored by Vulture, Funny or Die, The Daily Dot, and Buzzfeed; when asked why he loves the app in particular, he explained: “The bits don’t have to be that refined. And not that you don’t care what you’re sending out, you don’t have to be that worried or insecure about what you’re doing.”
There’s definitely no pretension in Ozeri’s feed, which features recurring bits like running with hot coffee, finding fruit in unlikely places, and folding himself into improbably small spaces. Misspelled captions, jerky editing, slow reveals, and lack of narration are typical. Many involve complex planning or prop-making, or asking other people to play along – and, this weekend, Ozeri’s Snaps featured a very special guest: director Steven Spielberg.
In a series of increasingly worrisome Snaps, Ozeri documented himself setting a “Spielberg trap” – a bunch of Blu-Rays from his oevre – and, in a horrifying turn of events, becoming the hunted as the director stalks him home.
Watch the horror unfold below:
We have so many questions! How did Ozeri and Spielberg meet? Are they working on something awesome together? Do you think they’ve gone to the movies together and if so what did they see? Do you think Spielberg’s a popcorn guy, or a Milk Duds guy? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.
