Whitney Cummings has landed an untitled pilot inspired by Maureen Dowd’s book Are Men Necessary? at HBO. Cummings will also shoot a stand-up comedy special this fall, set to air as well on the premium cable channel in 2016. The pilot is described as a comedic portrait of modern relationships that focuses on human nature and social construction using documentary elements and appearances from experts to help the characters understand the biological basis of their behavior. Cummings, who’s credits include the creation of the CBS hit 2 Broke Girls and also NBC’s two-season sitcom Whitney, will serve as the writer, star and exec producer on her HBO pilot. Cummings was also recently seen in The Wedding Ringer with Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. She’s currently filming The Ridiculous 6 which also stars Adam Sandler, Will Forte, Terry Crews, Steve Buscemi, and David Spade. John Turturro, Steve Zahn, Luke Wilson, and Chris Parnell also appear in a cast of comedians too long to site here.
