Will Ferrell has been known to send up sports in various role – soccer, Nascar, basketball, ice skating, he’s done them all. Well, except an obvious one, America’s National pastime, baseball.
Beginning tomorrow, March 12, Ferrell will be at five different Spring training ballparks in Arizona as he works on production for a new HBO special in which he’ll honor Bert Campaneris’ (who will be present) historic feat of playing for ten different baseball teams, playing in every position on the field (and off) in the same day, that’s 10 positions. It will be done for both the TV special and to raise money for charities that fight cancer. Game-used memorabilia from Ferrell’s trek will be auctioned off on MLB.com to raise money.
Ferrell’s special day, produced by Funny Or Die for HBO, will air later this year and feature pro ball players, managers, and coaches. Doing it while at Spring training will allow for Ferrell to be in close proximity to a majority of teams.
Ferrell will be playing in the following games as part of the special:
March 12 (PST)
12:05pm – Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics (HoHoKam Stadium)
1:10pm – Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Tempe Diablo Stadium)
2:10pm – Cincinnati Reds at Arizona Diamondbacks (Salt River Fields at Talking Stick)
4:05pm – San Francisco Giants at Chicago White Sox (Camelback Ranch)
6:15pm – Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres (Peoria Stadium)
