After rumors have been swirling around for a bit that we might be getting a series, this morning it was officially confirmed. We are getting a MacGruber series on NBC’s forthcoming streaming network titled Peacock.
The series is being described as the following. “After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber (played by Forte) is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past—Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber, Vicki, and Piper must race against time to defeat the forces of evil, only to find that evil may be lurking within.”
The series is set to be written and executive produced by Forte, Jorma Taccone, and John Solomon. Also executive producing will be Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, John Goldwyn, and Erin David.
The series is, of course, based off of the 2010 film of the same name, which itself was based off the character’s segments on Saturday Night Live. The streaming network is set to debut later this year, and if this is the sort of content they’ll be bringing us, then count us in!
