All our wishes have finally come true: Arrested Development is coming back with a whole new fifth season.
Earlier this week, actor Jason Bateman sent the internet into a frenzy when he Tweeted he’d signed on for a new season of the beloved cult hit show:
Look very probable I’m going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer. Just officially signed on to more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT today.

Arrested Development had three seasons on FOX, with a fourth season “reboot” on Netflix in 2015.
Since the show’s premiere, way back in 2004, its stars have gotten much, much busier – Tony Hale is on Veep, Jeffrey Tambor stars in Transparent, Will Arnett has another Netflix show, Flaked – so the probability of yet another season was up in the air.
But now, we know Bateman wasn’t just getting our hopes up: show creator Mitch Hurwitz has confirmed Arrested Development will be heading back to the streaming network, with new episodes streaming in 2018.
“In talks with Netflix we all felt that that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days. I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life.”
It sounds like the entire cast will be back, including Bateman, Tambor, Hale, Arnett, Jessica Walter, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, Portia de Rossi, and Michael Cera. However, some Tweets seem to indicate everything’s not quite set for the reunion yet:
Huh….. I haven’t signed anything https://t.co/N088ZcaItZ
