There’s a classic episode of Seinfeld called, “The Cartoon” which was written by Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girls, Six Feet Under). In the episode, Elaine submits a caption for a New Yorker cartoon that she subconsciously plagiarized from a Ziggy cartoon. The cartoon featured a pig at the complaint department.
Being that there’s nothing as timely as a good Seinfeld reference, The New Yorker is now giving the public the chance to come up with your own caption to the very same image used from the sitcom. If they like your entry it will run in the magazine. I’m sitting here trying to come up with a zinger or two but all I’ve got so far is. “There’s not enough bacon in the world.” Which, though factually correct isn’t remotely quippy. I’m with Kramer, “My wife is a slut.”
If you are interested, we got the chance to interview Bruce Eric Kaplan last year about his new book and cartoons he’s written for the magazine. The interview also touched briefly about Girls as well. Read up.
