Zach Galifianakis… action star?

Used to be the words “Zach Galifianakis” and “action star” went together about as well as well …”Zach Galifianakis” and “action star.” Now you are going to have to change the standard because the bearded stand up known for his roles in comedies like The Hangover and Youth In Revolt is one of the (many) stars in a new action movie called Operation:Endgame.

Before you check Google to to see if Galifianakis dropped the pounds like Seth Rogen in the Green Hornet, rest assured the hirsute comedian still keeps his bowler-like physique in order to play the character The Hermit. Pretty fitting for a guy with a beard like that.

Along with Galifianakis, the movie stars a plethora of funny people including Rob Corddry, Bob Odenkirk, and Jeffrey Tambor. Yes, this is really is an action movie and all of these actors are shown clearly kicking some ass. Take a look at the F-bombed filled trailer and see for yourself.

If you have never heard of this movie don’t feel bad because the movie did kind of come out of nowhere. It originally was called Rouge’s Gallery but had a name change last minute. The movie will come out on DVD and Blu-Ray July 27th after forgoing a major release.

Don’t be put off by the fact you haven’t seen it in theaters, frankly this movie clearly isn’t for the mass audience. The comedians aren’t being funny in the way we are used too, and with the exception of Ving Rhames there aren’t really any actors or actresses to sell this as a mainstream action flick. This is a good thing since it means instead of paying exorbitant ticket prices you can just queue this up on you Netflix for what looks like a pretty damn fun ride.
