The 7th Annual ECNY Awards Nominees Announced…

They just released the nominees for the 7th annual ECNY awards. If you aren’t familiar with the award, the ECNY is given out for excellent from emerging New York comedy. If you are an East Coast comedy rat then this is the equivalent of the Oscars (granted with much less attractive people).

Past winners read like a “who’s who” of comedy right now:

- Hannibal Buress (Best Male Stand-Up Comedian; “Saturday Night Live,” “30 Rock”)
- Nick Kroll (Best One Person Show, 2007; FOX’s “Sit Down Shut Up”)
- The Onion News Network (Best Web Site, 2007)
- John Mulaney (Best Male Stand-Up Comedian, 2007; “Saturday Night Live”)
- Kristen Schaal (Best Female Stand-Up Comedian, 2007; “Flight of the Conchords”)
- Eugene Mirman & Michael Showalter (Best Host, 2007; “Stella”)
- Aziz Ansari (Best Male Stand-up, 2005; NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”)
- Mike Birbiglia (Best Male Stand-up, 2003; Broadway’s “Sleepwalk With Me”)

Nominees were selected after a public nomination process, and voting by a committee composed of industry professionals. The nominees were announced live by Raw Dog’s own Mark Seman on SiriusXM Radio, and simultaneously on Ustream.tv and Twitter by ECNY Producer Kambri Crews. The ceremony will be hosted for the fourth year in a row by Jon Friedman (The Rejection Show).

The thing we find conspicuous however is the glaring absence of the the good ol’ TLB in the Best Website category. Now I’m not saying that the websites that made this years list aren’t worthy (bro pound to our virtual homey The Comic’s Comic), but come on! I don’t want to go around making accusations, but I will say that this is a glaring oversight, and remember it’s never to late to fix any mistakes.
