Damon Wayans Jr. to return to ‘New Girl’ in season 3
With the cancellation of the criminally underwatched ABC sitcom Happy Endings there’s a lot of great comedic talent floating around out there to get picked up by other shows. Now the word has broken that Damon Wayans Jr. will reprise his role as Coach on the FOX breakout comedy New Girl for a “major season 3 stint.”
As diehard New Girl fans will tell you Wayans originally played he Coach character in the pilot of the show, but was promptly written out of the show once he was forced to drop out with the pickup of Happy Endings at the same time. Lamore Morris filled the role of the 4th roommate as Winston, who was playing basketball overseas and subletting to Coach, upon his return Coach moved out, leaving the option open for him to return.
TV Line is reporting that Jake Johnson (Nick Miller) is currently filming a movie with Wayans Jr. and it started the conversation which is now a reality.
We can’t say this isn’t a scenario we hoped would happen upon learning of the cancelling of Happy Endings, but then we’d be lying to you dear readers. We also hope Sinbrad gets his own spinoff TV show. Ohhhh Snap!.
