Netflix will be launching five new stand-up specials this year to add to their library. Starting August 28th and rolling on through December, the online streaming provider will exclusively premiere new hour specials from Chelsea Peretti, Bill Burr, Chelsea Handler, Bill Cosby, and Jim Jefferies.
First on the block is Jim Jefferies: BARE. “Filmed live at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, Jim Jefferies is back and fired up as ever in his newest comedy special. No one is safe from Jim’s hilarious and shocking observations about politics, new fatherhood, orgies and Neil Diamond.” Bare premieres Friday, August 29th at 12:01am.
Next up is Netflix’s newest star Chelsea Handler in Uganda Be Kidding Me Live. “Chelsea Handler headlines her first stand-up special exclusively for Netflix, the culmination of Handler’s wildly popular international stand-up comedy tour in support of her fifth New York Times #1 Bestseller, Uganda Be Kidding Me. Using personal photos to enrich her stories and comedy, Handler regales the audience with absurd tales of her global travels and the ridiculous characters in her life, all the while offering her signature unabashed opinions on subjects ranging from her expectations of sexual partners, to the very real problem of dolphin rape.” The special will premiere on Friday, October 10th at 12:01am.
Chelsea Peretti: One of the Great, “brings a reimagining of the hour-long special. “Her unique delivery, writing, physicality, and mind shine in this dark yet silly, tightly-constructed material, filmed live at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The production opens a new window into the singular voice of the Brooklyn 99 star and showcases her diverse talents as an actor, standup, writer, and motorcycle enthusiast.” We caught Peretti at JFL this summer; this one’s sure to be a hit when it premieres Friday, November 14th at 12:01am.
The living legend returns for his second special in two years, Bill Cosby 77. “In Bill Cosby’s latest special, he brings his singular point of view and comedy to his favorite topics, relationships, marriage and children. Taped at the SF Jazz Center in San Francisco on Cosby’s 77th birthday and directed by Robert Townsend.” Bill Cosby 77 premieres Friday, November 28th at 12:01am.
Rounding out 2014 is Bill Burr: I’m Sorry You Feel That Way. “Bill Burr takes the stage of the Tabernacle in Atlanta on Netflix for his fourth hour-long special, I’m Sorry You Feel That Way. Join him as he escapes the zombie apocalypse in his getaway helicopter, explores how nothing ruins great sex like a rom-com, and explains how too many childhood hugs may be the downfall of man.” I’m Sorry You Feel That Way premieres Friday, December 5th at 12:01am.
